THE MISSION OF STANDARD OF ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION, INC. IS TO STRENGTHEN THE INDIVIDUAL, THE FAMILY, AND THE COMMUNITY THROUGH ORGANIZED ATHLETICS, EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT, AND LIFE SKILLS TRAINING.

Is Standard of Athletics (SOA) exclusive to residents of the Stone Oak area or students in NEISD?
No. SOA programs are open to all school-age children in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
What is the SOA hybrid concept?
SOA hybrid concept is a combination of skills development, league play, and select programs. Trainers will conduct skills development clinics and camps throughout the year. Leagues in the North, West and South will be offered year-round with 4 seasons – Winter (January-February), Spring (April-May), Summer (July-August), and Fall (October-November). Dates are approximate. In addition, select team tryouts may be offered to SOA players who are interested in representing SOA at AAU sanctioned events.
What programs are currently being offered by SOA?
SOA is currently offering basketball leagues, tournaments, clinics and camps year round. SOA also offers soccer and volleyball in the fall and spring season.
What other programs does SOA plan to offer for the future?

How can I register for a sports program?
You may view upcoming season information and register for open seasons online by clicking HERE, or you may register in person at our office. How much are registration fees?

What age divisions do you offer?
SOA Basketball is open to all players in the following age divisions: 6& Under (6U), 8 & Under (8U), 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. Our soccer league has 6U, 8U, and 10U age divisions.
What age division is my child eligible for?
Divisions are determined by player’s age as of September 1st. Players may “play up” a division, but players may not play down.
How do I know whether to register my player for the North, South, or West League?
School district boundaries are used as a guide for establishing North, South and West Leagues. Please use the information below as a reference to choose which League best fits your player's needs regarding practice and game day locations.
Where will teams practice?
Practice gyms are located in Northside ISD for the West League; NEISD, JISD and Comal ISD for North League; SAISD, Edgewood ISD, and Harlandale ISD for South League, as well as Holy Cross HS, SACS, TMI and The Court. Practice locations are assigned to teams no earlier than 3 weeks pre-season on a first come basis to coaches who have at least 5 players registered. Team assignments for early and regular registrants will be available beginning the week after parent and coach orientations.
How much practice time is each team allotted?
Each team will be scheduled for 1 hour half court practice each week. Teams in the 10U age division & above may have 1 additional hour if space allows. 16U may have full court if space allows. In the event of district/school events or holidays, SOA will accommodate teams as space allows. Depending on gym availability, teams may share a court.
When and where will games be played?
Locations will be given at the beginning of the season. All 7 regular season games will be played at the same locations all season on Saturday or Sunday until the last weekend of the season, the End-of-Season tournament. The End-of-Season tournament will be a two day (Saturday & Sunday) tournament on the final weekend of the season. Teams may play both days and/or multiple games on one day.
Do you verify ages for all players?
All registrants must provide a copy of their player’s birth certificate for verification of eligibility. Players will not be assigned to teams without this verification.
During Registration, Can I request a coach or friend for my child’s team?
Requests for specific coaches, teams, practice sites and friends can be made during the registration process online. Every attempt is made to accommodate all requests but all requests are not guaranteed.
Has the parents’ and coach's meetings been scheduled for the upcoming season?
SOA schedules Parents’ Meetings at least 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the season. Please check the calendar on SOA'S main page, SOA's Facebook page, or download SOA's mobile app for more information on parent/coach orientations and other important SOA dates and events.
How many games will each team play in a season?
There will be 7 regular season games followed by an end of season single-elimination tournament for all teams. Each team will therefore play a minimum of 8 games per season. Opportunities may arise for additional games as well.
Is the schedule subject to change?
SOA will make every effort to avoid schedule changes once the season has started. It is possible however that games could be rescheduled due to UIL events, severe weather, or other events that limit access to facilities, or as directed by the school district.
How many players are on a team?
Teams will have a minimum of 7 players on their roster. The maximum number of players per team is 10 in all age divisions. Coaches may request an extended roster if they are registering a full team. All roster changes are at the coach’s discretion.
Do you provide trophies for players?
SOA will provide medals to the top 2 teams in each division at the End-of-Season Tournament. The winners of the Best-of-the-Best Tournament will receive a trophy for the team.
Are uniforms provided?
Reversible jerseys are included in the registration fee. Teams may play with their own jerseys but they must be reversible with one light and one dark side and cannot have any other league logos printed on them.
Are coaches trained and/or certified?
All SOA coaches attend a mandatory coaches meeting and are required to have a signed Coach’s Code of Conduct kept on file with SOA.
Do you provide additional training, clinics or camps?
SOA is collaborating with former Spurs George Gervin, Antoine Carr and Mike Mitchell. Please see the Events section of the website for more information regarding these camps and clinics.
Can I get a refund after registering?
If your player is unable to participate after registering and before the season begins, a credit toward a future SOA program can be applied.
Credits are good for one year. SOA DOES NOT PROVIDE REFUNDS.
Do you offer a payment plan?
SOA does not offer a payment plan. SOA program registration fees are due at time of registration.

You can find game day schedules on SOA's website, on the Standard of Athletics (SOA) mobile app, and through your player's team page which you can access by signing in (top right corner) using the user name and password used to register your player by clicking HERE.
How do I find out what team my player is on or where my team's practice site is at?
Early and Regular registrants, practice sites and team rosters may not be finalized until a week before season begins. Late registrants, please allow 24-48 hours for your player to be assigned to a team. Prior to the season start date, you can access your player's information through your player's team page which you can access by signing in (top right corner) using the user name and password used to register your player by clicking HERE.

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs (www.aausports.org).

What is the benefit of AAU affiliation?
AAU events will offer our players additional competition locally, as well as at the regional and national levels. With future plans to host a regional tournament, we will be bringing visitors to the community who will frequent our local businesses and bring additional revenue to our area.

The funds generated from our fundraisers will be applied to, but not limited to, the following: facility rental, professional fees for referee and skills development, equipment, and other operating costs, as well as philanthropic causes.
